Privacy policy
How we handle your personal information.
This policy explains how Manage For You ("we", "us") collects, uses and protects personal information, in line with the Privacy Act 2020. It applies to property owners, tenants and applicants, and anyone who contacts us or uses this website.
What we collect. Owners: names, contact details, property details, bank account details for payments, and IRD or tax information where needed. Tenants and applicants: names, contact details, ID, employment and income details, rental history, references, credit checks and Tenancy Tribunal order searches. Website visitors: what you enter in our forms, and basic analytics about how the site is used.
Why we collect it. To appraise and manage rental properties, to assess tenancy applications, to prepare tenancy agreements and lodge bonds, to collect rent and pay owners, to arrange maintenance, to meet our legal obligations, and to reply to enquiries.
Who we share it with. Only where needed for these purposes: the property owner (for applicant and tenant information), Tenancy Services, the Tenancy Tribunal, credit reporting agencies, referees you name, tradespeople (contact details only, to arrange access), our software providers, and where the law requires it. We don't sell personal information.
Applicants. We collect only the information we need to assess an application, in line with the Privacy Commissioner's guidance for landlords. If you're not offered a tenancy, we keep your information for a limited time and then securely destroy it, unless you ask us to keep it for another property.
Storage and security. We store information securely and limit access to people who need it. We keep records for as long as we need them for these purposes or as required by law, then destroy them.
Your rights. You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you and to correct it. Email hello@manageforyou.co.nz or call 0800 936 262. If you're not happy with how we've handled a privacy matter, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.
